What to do in Tenerife
Our island is a contrast of very varied landscapes that will surprise you. Connect with the unique nature of Tenerife, the island of eternal spring.
Mount Teide, king of the island
Spain's highest mountain is located in Tenerife: the majestic Mount Teide, with its 3,715m, crowns the island. Mount Teide can be enjoyed in many ways: from, of course, a climb to its summit, to organising an excursion to watch sunset from this unbeatable spot and staying for a stargazing session with a picnic or dinner. A place full of magic that you can't miss.
Bike riding and trekking
Tenerife offers a surprising variety of landscapes. From lunar landscapes with volcanic formations, called "malpaís", to laurel forests in the north of the island, Tenerife's subtropical climate offers you three types of environments to enjoy on foot or by bicycle: the coasts, with a mild climate and even hot in summer; the midlands, with their pine forests in the centre of the island and the laurel forests in the Anaga and Taganana Rural Parks; and the summits with their characteristic lava landscape. A treasure waiting to be discovered on foot or on two wheels.
Black and White Sand beaches
The calima brings white sand from the Sahara to Tenerife and the eastern islands of the archipelago of the Canary Islands. But this sand does not reach all the beaches, so others are born from the erosion of the volcanic soil. For this reason, you will find white sand beaches, such as Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje, and also black sand beaches, such as Playa de las Gaviotas or Playa de Benijo. Which one will you like best?
Scuba Diving
The Atlantic Ocean offers its gentler version in Macaronesia. With warm water all year round (18º in winter, 23º in summer), discover its marine fauna and flora by diving or from a boat. From dolphin and whale watching boats in Los Cristianos, to scuba diving in different parts of the island such as Los Gigantes, let the marine life of Tenerife and its volcanic underwater landscapes make you fall in love.
Picturesque villages
The iconic colonial architecture of the Canary Islands creates a very special atmosphere in its villages. If you want to discover truly iconic villages on the island of Tenerife, we recommend La Laguna, in the north of the island, and La Orotava, in the northwest. The capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is also a good place to discover the beautiful parks with giant ficus trees so typical of our cities. And if you want to try an authentic gastronomic experience on the island, don't miss our guachinches: homemade food houses, which usually work with a daily menu of Canarian dishes. You can look for them all over the island!
